Len,

If you don't mind, here's my 2 cents on that question.

Ancor is both a competitor and a possible supplier. Remember that they bought their McData division from HP a while back. McData makes switches - well, sort of. Actually they bought a license from Brocade so their switches could say "Brocade Inside". -g- I believe that the McData switches don't cover the entire gambit of what the market wants in a switch so Ancor does have an outside chance to be a supplier.

The question that I have: Does either Ancor or Brocade have a shot at 'Gorillahood'?

Craig

Len, Ancor has only one competitor in the FC switch market, Brocade.
Vixell & Gadzooks are set to enter the market but they are said to be niche players. Their switches are said to be far behind in many crucial respects, including asic design, switch architecture, and software support, plus it's an unproven product. ANCR and BRCD have already signed OEMs. It takes a LONG time to develop a full fabric switch and it takes a lot of money.. EMC would be a potential customer IMO along with many others.
