>>I cannot believe that Greenspan is happy that the main effect of those rate cuts last fall was to expand the bubble.<<

start believing. every party he goes to, he is the MAN. the STAR. the bigger the bubble, the bigger the MAN. the bigger the STAR.

the memory of his tenure is totally tied to the bubble.

>>the Fed might try raising initial margin...that this would dampen the stock markets without causing a banking collapse. <<

If the Fed wanted to do this they would had the opportunity to do this long ago. Indexes are now good for climbing 4% a week. I think we will be good for the year at a 40% gain in the indexes! The NAZ climbed over 10% in the past 2 weeks and continues to accelerate.

tom, bubbleboy said he wouldn't raise margin requirements b/c that would fuel more speculation. why? people would feel safer with less margin in the market.

does he believe this? i don't think so. if he really did then he'd do it so the bubble could expand another 10%.

a really lame excuse from a really lame fed chairman.
