Jesse, exactly, meaning that WAVX may not even be able to demand a 25% or even 15% cut... pie in the sky.

"Enter a consortium of OEMs, CONTENT PROVIDERS, and WAVE SYSTEMS"

It doesn't exist

"For a sliding scale fee, from 50% to 10% (subject to change as the market bears) of the transaction, the consortium will deliver your product to NEW CUSTOMERS who might never go to your web site or may not have even heard of your product."

Why would they be able to get greater market share via sliding payment as opposed to a free trial subscription/use ala Thestreet.com et al.?

You are implying that WAVX will pay $ to market WAVE enabled sites/products/companies. If not, what good is it to be WAVE enabled and have nobody know about me? Once again, this WAVX model is not superior to a free trial model to gain exposure/market share.

"The content provider gains entry into new markets and generates new customers"

No, not at all unless WAVX expends tremendous dollars marketing these companies. Much greater exposure is had by giving out free trials ie. AOL, Street.com, SI even, etc.

"The Learning Company, Psygnosis, Sierra, and Knowledge Adventure have joined with Hauppauge Computer Works and Wave Systems to give it a go. Contrary to what the shorts want to believe, these content providers are giving up a larger % than Visa chgarges. Why are they doing it?"

The better question is why aren't MSFT, Adobe, Corel, et al. doing it.

A bunch of bit players getting in bed with other bit players doesn't make for much.

"Does a credit card company deliver product to virgin customers? Does it deliver the latest product to the door of likely repeat customers?"

A free trial coupled to a credit card purchase at a 2.5% premium sure works for most.

"This is a new marketing and advertising paradigm."

Sure is, unfortunately it's just too expensive. Just like IRID is too expensive for whatt you get. WAVX may be OK for niche situations, but not for the mainstream.
