Most of that taxpayers' money is spent on the medical school, and on other departments that need a lot of high tech equipment. In other words, it subsidizes the careers of future Republicans.

Edit: And remember, we are talking about graduate school, not college. That is a whole different bag.

If you attended a private college/university the odds are great that it has some sort of endowment that subsidizes student tuition.


I attended a small private college with a very small endowment. Most of the financial aid I received was grant-in-aid monies, for which I worked my ass off. And I worked part time all the school year and full time in the summer to pay my way and I lived with my parents. [I don't have to say more, do I?] The day after exams ended, I was at work and I worked right until the day before classes began.

What I find shocking and lamentable is that it is nearly impossible for a young person today to meet the cost doing as I did.
