SUGGESTION ALL READ POST 7857

I have been with the software industry for over 15 years and the cost of software (for just one example) is due to R&D and then followed by COGS (cost of goods). (Marketing and Sales always exist so I will skip that one here)

If I the software developer can get my software out without the COGS I will be much much happier and richer because I don't have to deal with vendor issues, outdated product, high cost of printing, distribution issues and associated transportation costs.

Don't think CompUSA's (Retails) and a whole bunch of wholesale distributors don't take a cut out of my profit. It can easily exceed 40%- 60% and sometime much higher if your not a large company.

Software is just one example, this will apply to all media as POST 7857 will explain.

I only offer MHO from EXPERIENCE from working with both small and large software companies.

Newman,

I just returned and have started to plow through the posts, but I want to let you know that this post was brilliant. Of course, it won't matter to folks who are willfully ignorant, but it's important to let folks know when they've hit the mark, and this one does.

We're clearly wasting our time here as these people truly are members of a weird-ass cult, but what the hell, engaging them is better than letting them roll over us.

Great job, Newman.

Jeez, I'm getting a big headache OK

"Piracy of that digitized product"

WAVX has not been tested on the open market... most hackers don't know it exists so you can't assume it's as bullet proof as you want to thinkit is.

"Mistrust on the part of consumers who don't want to give out their credit card
numbers...fearing someone will get ahold of them"

Talk about mistrust, you expect somebody to fund a never heard of WAVX account?

"That over the Internet...digitized information costs next to nothing to transport and
deliver."

OK, but CDs aren't too expensive either FYI (go to CHina and you can find that out). What are you going to do about manuals as most people prefer hard copy manuals with a purchase. Also, people tend to want to have hard copies of what they buy... You are suggesting that they keep everything on their hard drive. What if I want to buy something and install it on 2 different computers. What if I want to buy a game and give it to my friends to play with?

"Let me just say that: the price that consumers pay for a hard product ("Braveheart" on a
DVD) does not go 100% back to the movie company. A lot goes to the retailer. Is it
40%? 50%? 60%? And a lot of cost goes into duplicating the movie onto millions of
DVDs and then transporting them to retail outlets"

It may be "alot" but it's not close to a 44% cut of the total transaction price.

"WAVX's technology and its partners will be replacing the retail middlemen. So the cut
for WAVX and its partners will be REPLACING the large cut of today's retail, hard
goods, middlemen...it won't be added on top of it. Howard, it's REPLACING the large
retail cut that is already there"

Real dumb point, the reason you have all these middle men is so that it makes it easier for consumers to find a product.... it's marketing in a sense when you distribute your software to as many retailers as possible. Since WAVX will do no marketing of any individual software, then why on earth would Doom et al hand over 44% away? They could fricken sell it direct without WAVX and eat all the fat profits. That is retarded to think they will fork over 44% to WAVX to sell it direct when they could just do it themselves and USE Visa for the transaction.

"And since these digitized products are magnitudes cheaper to make and trasport...costs
will come way down."

I think you fail to se that most people who buy software want a hard copy to put on 2nd machines and to trade around with friends. I don't want to buy something and have it stuck on my hard drive.

"He could buy it instantaneously from the comfort of his own home. And if he wasn't sure
he'd really like DOOM...he could decide to try it once for, say $.50. And if he wanted,
he could keep on trying it for $.50...until he's spent $40.00, at which point he'd own
DOOM."

You fail to understand that Doom et al. has no reason to sell thru WAVX unless WAVX gives them a significant marketing advantage. Also, you are assuming that most game manufacturers want to give you the opportunity to test out their games which may not be at all true. As mentioned before, Blockbuster could have a policy to allow you to return a movie after 45 minutes if you don't like it and get a partial refund, but they won't do it... they'd rather you be forced to either rent it full or not.

"WAVX does not need to be widely
deployed to be successful. It has just started deploying. And it will ramp up over
time."

If you say so

". In fact, WAVX is the only company now in this new
market sector. "

ask yourself if the reason for that is cause no other company sees much of a future in the market WAVX is pursuing.
