He is VERY bullish on Internet, and Y2K, he said he sees no problem so far and is bullish in spite of Y2K,

BTW software has been experiencing a dramatic slowdown this year which (according to sw management) is due to y2k impacting sales. Peoplesoft and Sap, etc. are all at least 50% off their highs. Other IT infrastructure vendors such as Cisco didn't see the same y2k-related slowdown which has always been rather curious.

My opinion is that y2k was not the major reason for slowing software sales, it was acually a combination of new internet technologies that have replaced traditional software as well as saturation of the customer base. There are new internet companies such as Employease that essentially run websites that allow companies to outsource tasks that they used to have to install customized software from Peoplesoft to do. With the technical labor market so tight its a pretty appealing option. The software company management seems to have been blindsided by the internet in general.

SInce software is the only sector to universally experience a y2k related slowdown and there is so much else wrong with the sector, I agree with Dines on his bullishness for the millenium. Most analysts that I have read are predicting a declining mkt going into y2k... is anybody else wildly bullish that you have seen?
