None of those guys understood that the relative motion of the planets was based on elliptical orbits as estimated by Kepler from Tycho's observations. No one ever made an accurate prediction of planetary positions using Ptolemy's methods -- in particular Tycho (who rejected Copernicus) made serious mistakes. This was especially true of Mercury, which has very complex movements which were not understood until modern times -- Einstein and Mariner 10.
