When businesses handle massive amounts of data, you generally have an embarrassingly parallel computing problem. The solution of a cluster is generally a lot cheaper. My personal Linux cluster is really ... hmmmm... extremely cheap. The Extreme Linux CD is twenty bucks.

The profit margins on supercomputers are good! But you can't sell high volume by mail order! You need to market differently!
