A Road Map for our Stocks....Interpretation of the Criteria Values and Abbreviations in Market Gems Watch Lists For all newcomers this weekend please look at the explanation of our criteria (just like a road map of the stock) . You should be familiar with the more popular technical indicators (Remember values in parentheses are simply in what percentile that stock happens to fall into in compared with the rest of the stocks in the market. marketgems.com SATH - SHOP AT HOME INC .RMC VL/30= 914.9 ( 99) %Rnge= 76.0 ( 622> Price= 8.0 ( 45) Sto9V= 54.5 ( 41) W14dV= 41.7 ( 18) %Hi4 = 82.8 ( 12) 50MA = 81.4 ( 7) 10MA = 96.2 ( 12) SATH the volume VL/30 value of 914.9 is extremely high. This means that SATH is trading at 900% more than 30 day moving average of SATH's volume (99). This places SATH in the 99th percentile among all the stocks (i.e. only 1% of stocks have had a higher volume percentage over their 30 day average volume than SATH had on Friday).% Range . very important means that of the intraday price range of SATH it closed in the 76th percentile of that range (a little more than average, i.e. in the 62nd percentile meaning that 38% of all the stocks on Friday closed at a higher percentile of their daily range than SATH and 64% closed at a lower percentile range than SATH) This is good criteria for searching for stocks trading closer to its 80-90% percentile, a sign the stock closed in strength. A quick look at other criteria.. Sto9V= 54.5 .. is 54 which is not too low and not too high placing SATH in the 41st percentile about average. Any number over 70-75 and you have an overbought stochastic. It doesn't mean its a bad trade, but you would be aware immediately that there is an overbought stochastic which should be noted. W14dV.. (This is the abbreviation for Wilder 14 day..) again the number 41.7 is average. for 10MA it is how close the stock is trading to its 10 day moving average.. any number under 100, shows its under the 10 day moving average and any number over 100 shows its over the 10 day moving average, same as the 50 MA and any other.%Hi4 what is the percentage the stock is trading below or above its 4 week high (or 5 week [%Hi5], 13 week [%Hi13], 26 week [%Hi26], 52 week [%Hi52] depending on which number is after the Hi abbreviation)... For day or swing trading, I like to search for stocks near their 4 or 5 week high signifying a possible short term breakout. You can put any other percentage in "display only" mode so in an instant you can get a 'picture' of where the stock is trading against all these different time frames. This is all very simple, its just the 'abbreviations' that might seem to be different but once you've read the explanation its like a road map of the particular stock. Of course there are 125 indicators and about 20 or 30 could be used at any one time, I've chosen those that I think will give you a 'picture' of the stock even before you pull up a chart.
