>>Has anybody had any experience with the Zip 250? Went to Office Depot to buy some of the disks last week. They are in stock, but I was advised that a new Zip 250 drive is required. Not sure I want to submit a work order for a product where I prove to be the guinea pig.<<

Captain -

I haven't tried the Zip 250 myself, but yes, you definitely need the right drive to go with the 250MB disks. The reviews of the Zip 250 have noted the fact that although the drive is faster when reading from and writing to 250MB disks, it's slower when writing to the older 100MB disks. This is an inevitable function of the fact that the 250MB disks have a narrower track. The narrower head has to go around more than once to write each track of a 100MB disk.

If you need the extra capacity, and aren't worried about the write speed on the 100MB disks, go for the 250. It's been out for several months now. If there were any serious problems with it, we would have heard about it by now.
