Remember how upset everyone got over Billie Jean King and Renee Richards? I think that was before your time - and I barely rememember it myself, now. It would be nice to think that some men are being raised without all the garbage. I know my sons are, but who knows what they'll be like when society is done socializing them? They both say that "girls are stupid" because "girls like Barbie" and "My Little Pony", stuff like that. I say, "I'm not stupid." And they say "you're not a girl, you're a mommie." And I say, "but I used to be a girl." And they say, "but you're not a girl anymore!" Then I tell them about torturing my sister's Barbie, which reassures them that I never really was a girl. All I can say is, I try, I try.

I used to play racquetball twice a week with a male lawyer, who was about 50 at the time. He was better than I, but I kept improving, and then I developed a shot that he couldn't hit because he had a bad knee - I'd shoot almost into the corner, and he couldn't hit it because he couldn't spin around - and I was finally going to beat him - the score was 14-10 - and he turned out the lights in the court and said they must have closed. I couldn't see my watch, so I figured he was right. And gathered up my stuff and went out into the gym, and all the lights were on - and as naive as I am, I just thought they had made a mistake. I said, let's go finish the game, and he said, well, we've got all out stuff packed already. And we never played racquetball again, we started jogging twice a week. It wasn't until months, or maybe years, later that I finally realized what happened.
