I hope I didn't leave the impression that I think there is a Y2K problem. On the contrary...I personally do not foresee a problem going from one date to another. I have never bought into the notion of Y2K exposing the world to computer chaos and therefore inefficiencies, shortages and on and on.

However, I know a lot of people who HAVE bought into that notion.
I have seen the market falter based on a sneeze (how about that Greenspan briefcase indicator?)...there is no longer any rhyme or much reason sometimes why my portfolio and the individual stocks it contains take a hit. Often good news has equaled a lower share price. Go Figure.

Last year when the FED was LOWERING rates...the market went DOWN not up. Why? Because people felt the FED must know something that we didn't know. It must be BAD news...otherwise they wouldn't be LOWERING rates. Asia is on the verge of collapse...yada, yada, yada.

I don't assume anything anymore when it comes to the market and investor sentiment!

And I don't worry about LONG term holdings. But I do have some trading stocks that I need to keep a closer eye on...and the Internet/technology sector seems to be the main punching bag most of the time.

Aloha,
Mary
