Well, Objectivists may not be cultists, but they sure have their orthodoxies and heresies, their sectarian quarrels, and their excommunications. Perhaps the word "sectarian" may indeed have been more appropriate. <g> More seriously, I would never use the word "cult" to describe American political parties. They are basically associations of interest groups, and they certainly lack the ideological cohesiveness that one would expect of a cult -- that is, of a sect.
