Reseller,

You stated...

Thanks for the response, you will agree with me than, that ( if in fact as far as can be determined at this point ) if what's been implied, music will be bonded with the media than CF and Smart Media are too expensive for the archiving of music at this point.

The design-ins for upcoming devices have included SmartMedia, CF and MMC. My feeling is that they will be viable options for the SDMI specifications. The recent announcements by RCA/Thompson, Lucent, Frauenhofer/LiquidAudio and others suggest that flash memory is being incorporated into future devices.

I tend to believe that the level of control will be the devices themselves. I also feel that too tight of a strangle hold on the consumer will just lead to more pirated music. I wouldn't doubt that a couple of kids could spend a whole weekend ripping all of their CD's to mp3 format, burning them onto a CD and selling a couple dozen copies for all their buddies at school or trading them with friends at summer camp. There is really nothing in place to prevent this, unless you wish to fill our correctional facilities with teenagers.

I continue to rip my own CD collection and listen to music of choice that I have already purchased on CD.

We will know for sure in a week or so.
