So you're making a case for the Virtue Of Ignorance?
Why do it here, on SI? This is a financial discussion site.
For blind ignorant gambling there are i believe a number of casino sites.

I simply help bring details to light whenever possible—and with regards to the stock threads I post on, I don't presume to be teaching anybody anything. More appropriately, I have a strong dislike for predatory crooks on threads, in this SI community I share.

If you don't have a problem with crooks, I'm not surprised that you would assume everybody shares the same morally bankrupt view. You are, however, wrong in that assumption. If you don't want to help keep the place clean, that's fine—but don't hassle me whilst I'm squishing cockroaches. If you really like cockroaches that much, there's plenty over at Raging Bull.

Your post is a very crisp distillation of the entire conflict between someone like me, who wants to help other people to be able to make intelligent and rational choices about their investments, and someone who doesn't care if the CFO [for example] of a publicly traded company is a convicted felon.

I can tell you the truth; that there are certain stocks I will never buy for moral reasons, and certain exchanges I don't trade on for logical reasons, and you have already told me that you will "absolutely not believe" me.

You richly deserve everything you get.

(Note: my post does not suggest that anyone connected to AZNT is a convicted felon. The remark about a convicted felon has nothing to do with AZNT.)

See Lesley—here's the deal:

Over here, you want me to "make a difference in the world" #reply-10390597
…and over here, criminals taking money from people is no big deal: #reply-10391283
So—you're suggesting I should rail against veal?

Well, I don't care about veal. I never touch the stuff, and I don't hassle anti-veal activists either—well, maybe except for the one anti-veal activist who's currently hassling me to "make a difference in the world" by leaving alone those poor mistreated, misunderstood cockroaches, because really, everybody else loves them, too.

Yes, for me it is just a hobby and a pass time

hmm, small wonder the veal example came about... Best if you go paper trading...or soap opera watching...

Can you imagine if they would allow a "Sunday driver" (that is you), in the middle of the starting field of an Indy 500 race...

The point is, there are many who take investing seriously. Putting money at risk, and label such activity as "pass time" is not really the brightest thing to do in my book. You would be better off playing bingo, or slot machines...

I am sure that even you and all your morally upstanding SI friends, given the opportunity to make some great money, would invest in a questionable company, only to reap some great monetary rewards.

Therefore, shall we assume that you equate making money with immorality ?

Certainly not I...

The difference is, if I make a mistake, I do not go on screaming "I have been robbed, or call the first attorney to see if I can get enough plaintiffs for a "class action suit"... the difference is, I take responsibility for my own actions.

And if you tell me anything different, I will absolutely not believe you.

So you pass judgement with a pre-conditioned attitude as to what anyone shall respond to you .... without further investigation of what possibly the real facts may be.

By the way, I am sure you frighten me a great deal more than I frighten you.

You do not frighten me, but what you advocate, [stupidity, ignorance, and complacency], should frighten anyone with a productive mind.

Why ?

Because the morons who practice stupidity, (for investing in bb stocks); ignorance, (because they do not want to make the effort to educate themselves and simply learn more about their own investments risks); and, complacency, (because they would rather believe the rubbish that promoters of bb fleas tells them, simply because it is more agreeable with their feeble "wishful thinking" theory of "investing", not realizing that it is mere idiotic speculation that they are really executing), cause in the end more damage to the rest of the investment community, as sooner or later these very same people cry foul when their money is gone forever.

The fearful part is that it is idiots like these that clog the legal system with absurd lawsuits, clamoring to the authorities to find a culprit for their own mistakes, hence causing more regulation on top of more moronic regulation...

Frankly I do not give a rat's arse if legions of idiots choose to give away their money in idiotic enterprises, the problem for me lies in the fact that due to the same lemmings, unnecessary regulation is the net result of their stupidity, not to mention the clogging of the court system due to their equally stupid legal actions. But I repeat myself.

p.s. No I am not the best example of altruism, indeed I am fighting exclusively for my own best self-interest.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do not hold any position in this flea AZNT, indeed, it has been my practice now to avoid these issues like the bubonic plague.

That you and
your cyber friends really believe that you are teaching anybody, anything, is a joke.

This viewpoint is too paltry to even be considered cynical.
What Bill does, and TLC, and Janice, and others by their constantly shining a spotlight on unwelcome facts, as opposed to the cheerleading and raving bull, is make quite plain that claims and facts often do not line up.
This isn't a matter of voluntarily being taught, but being exposed to all sides of the equation; whereby you cannot help but become more informed, and therefore more able to wisely make choices in whatever investment.

So yes, they do teach.

Their opposites, the hysterical and vicious whining willies provide cheap entertainment that could be well done without.
And just because there are a number of recalcitrant morons who refuse to learn due to a conscious awareness that the facts are in opposition to their agenda, and thus find themselves lining up with the great slackadaisacal stamp of 'basher' etc. does not mean that being exposed to well-informed unbiased facts guarantees learning, only the opportunity to do so.
