Money supply effects are kind of difficult to get a handle on because the dollar is used increasingly by other countries as either a back-up to their currency or in place of their currency. How much of the supply growth goes to these still emerging needs would need to be accounted for before one could determine how much it has really grown compared to GDP.

I have heard a lot of talk about the trade deficit being a potential problem but can see no actual negative impact....we have very high deficits and the best performing economy in our history.
