RF Micro Devices Triples Production Test Capacity
GREENSBORO, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1999--RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD - news), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, today announced the completion of the movement of its product testing to a new expanded test floor.

''This expansion gives us the capacity to more than triple the output of tested parts available to our customers,'' said Powell Seymour, RFMD(TM) vice president of operations. Seymour continued, ''Short test times result in a higher through-put per test system, which is a core competency for RFMD. The combination of short test times and additional test systems provided by the expansion will significantly increase our ability to serve our customers.''

The test facility is designed for operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. RFMD expects that additional testing stations will be functional by the end of 1999 in order to handle additional testing requirements due to expected increases in RFIC production. Remarkably, the company experienced no interruption to the testing of components during the complex and intricate relocation project.

RF Micro Devices, Inc., based in Greensboro, NC, designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits for wireless communications applications such as cellular and PCS, cordless telephony, wireless LANs, wireless local loop, industrial radios, wireless security and remote meter reading.
