Bryan, REYour hypothesis is well-founded. How many times will an analyst (or a mutual fund manager -- are you listening Jeff Vinik?) do what's in his best interest, as opposed to issuing "objective" projections? Ninety-nine times out of 100, they'll upgrade or downgrade (or buy/sell/short) a security based on what will benefit THEIR own wallets first. Can you blame them?

You misunderstood my hypothesis.

No question that an analyst will recommend what will benefit his/her own wallet first. Most often, however, the thing that will benefit an analyst's wallet most would be a correct prediction.
