Are you sure the US is the largest holder?

Is there a table of central bank holdings somewhere?

The US of course, who also happen to own a majority of the worlds gold.

Mick,

If US currency were so dependent upon its holdings of gold, then you would think that those 8,000 tonnes losing so much value in the past month would have caused it to plummet.

No Mick... it's the economy backing our currency, not the gold.

And the British are selling their gold for a multitude of reasons, but mainly in order to support the US dollar's strength and maybe to weaken their own strong currency.

It would seem that British business is being hurt by that cheap exchange rate the Euro enjoys against the pound.

Regards,

Ron
