100 Percent Of Global One Network Elements Are Year
2000 Compliant

BRUSSELS, Belgium, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Global One, the international joint venture of
Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, and Sprint, today announced that it had reached its goal on
schedule to be 100 percent Year 2000 compliant by 30 June for all Global One-owned network elements.

These network elements include the Global One backbone transmission network, the Global One voice network, the Global One ATM-based
network, and the legacy IP and data networks. The network elements in the Global One-owned network have been thoroughly tested
according to accepted international standards and confirmed to be 100 percent Year 2000 compliant.

To underscore the positive results of its own tests, Global One has participated in an in-depth series of Year 2000 voice and data inter-
operability tests organized by the Year 2000 International Telecom Forum, whose members include Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom,
Sprint, Sprint Canada, and Global One. The objectives of those tests -- conducted in laboratories located in France, Germany, the United
States and Canada -- were met by all ITF members without a single Year 2000-related failure.

''Now that Global One owned network elements are 100 per cent Y2K tested, the next step is ensuring that Global One is ready for any
conceivable situation through contingency and risk management plans, since there are certain contingencies that are outside of our control,''
said Don Parker, Global One Senior Vice President responsible for the Global One Year 2000 Program.

The Global One Year 2000 Program Management Office was established in 1997 and includes a Risk Management Team that is coordinating
company-wide efforts to ensure business continuity. Built upon existing plans, enterprise-wide Y2K contingency plans are being finalized and
communicated throughout Global One in preparation for contingency exercises to be conducted during 3Q1999.

Global One has implemented a proactive communication program to keep customers informed of progress toward achieving Year 2000
readiness. A multimedia presentation on CD-ROM is available to Global One customers approximately every other month. Additionally,
Global One has established an Internet site on its corporate home page to provide detailed information for its customers and other interested
parties concerning its Year 2000 program. To access this site, go to www.global-one.net and select Year 2000 from the main menu.

Global One offers a single source for the provision of seamless voice, data and IP services for businesses, carriers and consumers around the
world. Set up as a worldwide joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint, Global One is a fully integrated company in its
own right, with over 1,400 network access centers in more than 65 countries. Global One offers the world's most far-reaching ATM-based
network and in 1998 had revenues of more than US$ 1.1 billion.
