Don't think the first is so likely - unless some could be (re) leasing to pay back the gold and substitute a new lease for the old - but don't think this makes much sense?? Or does it? d

Reasons For Rising Lease Rates?

Or the bankers feel that the risk of leasing gold has increased and they want to be compensated for it.

Or the bankers see interest rates increasing today and think they can get away with stiffing the borrowers with a higher fee
