Tony, RE: He's said 3Q will be worse than expected. Kind of hard to have an excellent 2H with a not-so-hot 3Q

But you forgot that he'll need a reason for the upgrade.

"We now think that the 3Q is going much better than expected, and are raising our numbers from x to x+10, and we're raising our rating from 'accumulate' to 'buy.'"

Then again, maybe he's playing the whole thing straight, thinks that the short term is rough for Intel, but in the long term it doesn't pay to bet against Intel. Hell if I know. I've never spoken to the guy.

In fact, John Hull might probably have an idea (and would certainly have a much better idea than I) if he's capable of such feints of hand. John, care to render a value judgement on Mr. Niles?

Tony RE: "Real-Job" Niles on Intel

Tony: Why make the poor guy work for a living? Whether any of these guys hit or miss Intc's 7/13 earnings means nada, as we all know. Intc could hit $.57, the Street will go OOH and AAAh, and then the investments, misc. income, holding back expense nonsense will filter thru the evening hype on CNBC, and by the next A.M., Maria and her cohorts will blab away, ask questions of more talking heads, never listening to the answers anyway,(their producers are SCREAMING in their ears to go to commercials), but by the end of this year all of us Intc longs will be pleased.
What IS known is Intc's continued strength and dominance, its ability to maintain fabulous margins while others sweat to produce the next breakthrough, always making excuses.
BTW, Amat had a better day than Intc, after Maria kept saying the market was up on Intc's buy ratings, Intc falters, other techs, i.e Amat et al, keep rising on the news.

Regards, Royco
P.S. Are you happy with Pedro M., even tho the Sox have their problems? Watch for Martinez vs Schilling as openers in All-star game.

P.S.S> Check out Unisys, climbing,($40"+", highest since 1987,)onward to $55, there's still time. <GG>
