Your point is well taken, and I plan to re-enter Yahoo soon as a hold till after the first of the year. By nature I am a long term holder, and maintain a core of almost untouchables such as msft,csco,emc,bby, and wmt, but I have a hard time resisting the use of the volatility of some of the nets to play around. I know that history indicates that I probably won't do as well as buy/hold but I'm not sure that this is applicable until this new economy area matures a bit...I do believe that volatility is lessening in these top tier gorilla's to be...but not just yet. I would bet by this time next year, I will be changing my thinking towards yhoo, aol, cmgi, etc.
