I don't know the numbers. It isn't that wide a range in my practice, but certainly there is more male-on-female than female-on-male violence. And I suspect that once it is acceptable for men to go public with the fact of being abused, we will see a lot more than we do now, though I doubt it will get close to equal.

What I was objecting to was the perception that women are somehow incapable of violence, violent crime, or domestic violence.

The actual statement was "Do women beat men so savagely in your community that they are bruised, and have broken limbs? Do women rape men at gunpoint, or knifepoint? Do women murder strangers? Do women rob banks, or convenience stores? Do women hide in alleys and mug passersby? You know it's not true, but you must say it anyway, for reasons that escape me."

And the fact is that it IS true that these things happen. Not as frequently as the reverse, but they happen more than many people are comfortable accepting.
