While my mother was in her last 6 months of life, fully armed Marines crossed her yard (inside a small town in NM not far from El Paso) AFTER DARK.

Did she or you file a complaint with the provost marshal at Fort Bliss or White Sands??

They had no business in trepassing on your property.

And yes Richard, I have been to El Paso. I used to make road trips there to pick up a bi-monthly supply of Shiner Bock back when I was in College.

Btw, at one time in my military career, I was on the short list to be part of one of those military listening posts (we called them LRP teams). But the end of the duty period would have interfered with starting my fall semester so I opted out. But I did have several friends who were involved and it was not fun. They had MANY close calls where they were either spotted by the smugglers or stumbled upon an operation in progress. In almost every case the drug runners were better armed and also possessed the latest in night-vision equipment.

Btw, night vision gear is not an god-send. It can help you identify that someone or something is out there, but it is VERY difficult to discern exactly who or what until you are almost within spitting distance.

Finally, I guess since you opted not to answer my questions about any prior military service on your part should be taken as a "NO"??

I guess the ASVAB was a bit tough, huh?

Regards,

Ron
