ok, the record is spotty. but whether or not its a rotten business, software companies that can ramp their revenues quickly from $5mm/qtr to $30mm/qtr will have stocks that perform well. GPSI has been a solid stock. Remedy was a great stock for a nice 18-month quadruple (or whatever it was). You just gotta sell before the revenues plateau.

Besides, although not software, access companies targeting the mid-market like Verio and Mindspring have built big market valuations. Its not inconceivable that SFA is the first software app (other than Microsoft's productivity apps and Intuit's stuff) that is reasonably compelling to a mid-size company.

Amsterdam, looked at Actuate's stuff? also, any opinions on the Ariba/Commerce One/Concur space?? TD??
