Paul,
I noticed the BBRS downgrade (http://news.excite.com/news/pr/990706/ca-bncbstn-rates-intc)
"We believe that much like the first and second quarters, the outlook for the third quarter will deteriorate as the period progresses," said Niles. "We would recommend selling Intel shares on the recent strength." I also noticed they went out on a limb and lowered estimates a whole penny for the qtr (equal to the street avg.) and .06 for the year.
I was under the impression that Merrill and Prudential were far more influential than BBRS. Especially lately, Prudential has been very accurate with their semi info. Shouldn't their abrupt change from neutral/accum. to strong buy clearly offset any damage from the mouth of Mr. Niles? Also, is Osha's claim that the Cumine mhz problem is behind them consistent with what you've heard? That alone should be good for a 5% gain in spite of Niles. As for AMD, I've given up trying to predict performance. I'll just hold until the end of the year, unless disaster strikes.
Although I'm strongly pro-AMD (its an economics thing), I'm not narrow minded enough to disregard your opinions, thanks for your insight.
