As I understand it, it is illegal for a member of the executive branch to run for Congress. Article One in the Constitution seems to forbid a member of the executive branch from holding a position in either House of Congress.

Is Hillary a member of the executive branch or not? She receives an expense account to act in an official role as a member of the executive family, doesn't she? She certainly speaks and acts on behalf of the president in the role of first lady. Should she be securing tax dollars for a campaign while still in this role? Is she playing a loop hole? What are the percentage of trips to NY state on the presidential expense tab vs say Montana?
