I remember the time I spent 600 (Canadian) bucks for 32 MB of ram. YEP, and that was only 3-4 years ago.

Adding RAM ...

If computers aren't complex enough...

When you add RAM to your system, make sure that your system can cache the additional ram. If not, your system will load into the non-cached RAM and your performance will deteriorate. I believe 64meg is the minimum cachable RAM size. If you put over 64meg into a system cachable to 64meg, your additional RAM won't be cached, slowing your system. Most new systems can cache the full RAM which can be installed, but older systems may have this limitation. Test your results.

I don't know how to determine a system's cachability beyond contacting the manufacturer. Anyone care to jump in with the answer or a URL?

Cheers, PW.
