The fact that some women are violent in no
way creates parity.

As I said myself in an earlier post.

Men commit more violence in our society than women. No question. No parity. I'm just objecting to the falsehood that all violence is committed by men, because it just plain ain't true.

But we are agreed on the fact that in our society, more men commit violent acts than women, and more men commit acts of domestic violence against men than men commit against women.

See, we can agree on things if we approach them rationally and reasonably.

Now, there are numerous possible responses to this fact. Among them:

One is to abuse men generally for this. I sense that this is your principal approach.

Another is to ignore it, figure that what is is, and get on with life.

Another is to claim that it is the way of nature, that men are conditoned by natural selection to be violent, that it is a necessary aspect of the survival of the human species, and we should accept it the same way we accept the fact that cats kill mice. Not my approach, but one that some people find logical.

Another is to try to figure out why violence happens, and address the reasons to try to reduce ALL violence, both male and female.

Another is to start addressing violence the best way you can. This is the approach of battering prevention programs. It's also the approach of the Childrens Creative Response to Conflict program of the Fellowship of Reconciliation which I was involved in developing about 25 years ago, which developed a classroom program to teach alternatives to violence. Offshoots of this program are still in place, and a similar program is even now being used in our local school.

Or you can simply rant. Not helpful in the long run, but may feel good to some people.

What is your solution to violent men? Castration? Termination? Permanent Incarceration? Amputation of both arms? Lobotomy?

I'm serious. What is the goddam solution? Is American society willing to lock up every potentially violent male? It seems to be the only logical answer to me. We will probably wind up with 30% of the male population in prison. I wonder how much it will cost.
