Paul,>>>This "concept" may be where Damn Niles and Merrill/Prudential diverge in their assessment of Intel's OVERALL BUSINESS performance. <<<

The only difference is in the "spin". They may differ in earnings by a penny or two - which really has absolutely no significance. At that level, accounting philosophy is far more important.

The money dummies at CNBC will no doubt call on Drew Peck and Dan Niles to comment on Intel earnings announcement - and regardless of how the results turn out - 51 or 55 cents, what do you think Peck and Niles will be saying on CNBC the day before and after earnings report.
That they were wrong. No way. I guarantee this is what they will be saying regardless of the way earnings turn out and CNBC will give these guys a forum to spout their nonsense: PC sales outlook looks weak as users find no compelling reason to upgrade their computers as all they want to do is surf the Internet and receive email. Pricing pressures will continue to cut margins and ASP will continue to lower.

They will totally ignore the server market, the power users, and the corporate road warriors with their very expensive state of the art notebooks.

Mark Haynes should know better, but there is no hope for the other money dummies.
