I come from a totally crazy strain of an otherwise "normal" KY agrarian farming family. My ancestors were homesteaders in KY. The ones who stayed on the farms hold very provincial views. They are not against blacks- but no black person would feel comfortable hearing my (now deceased) great uncle talk. Think Archie Bunker- but without the edge.

Now my grandfather happened to be the black sheep. He ran off and was in military intelligence during WWII. The family say he had a brain injury (which explains why he became a communist, a Californian, a street person and several other things- MR. X thought he was the unibomber)- but my birth mother is just as different and was in no war and has had no brain injuries (that I know of). So I guess you could say the fruit didn't fall far from the tree. Add to that the fact that my birth mother claimed I was the product of a rape- and you will see I have a very strange pedigree indeed.
