Worker Wins Compensation For Being Promoted

Habitat, Ontario (Rooters) - An Ontario office worker [we must be kind] was awarded
more than $1.00 in compensation for job-related stress because he
became depressed after being promoted against his will.

Former Habitat City clerical worker Nasty Nathanc, 44, retired on
health grounds after being appointed to a more senior post, a court heard.
He said the city council broke promises to offer him training and support for
the senior job, for which he had no experience or qualifications. Even though they promised to show him how to sharpen the pencils and polish the apples, they failed to supply either the pencils or the apples.

After being promoted in 1993, he was repeatedly off sick before he retired
today. Judge DSGumby said he agreed that Nasty's 'job' had led
to psychiatric illness. And recommended immediate confinement to the crackerbarrel, looney bin, or funny farm.
'There,' he said, 'Nasty will be able to play shuffleboard, gum food, and wear a new Depends every day - in other words, along with his pals from the Flame Thread, he will feel right at home.'

After the hearing Monday, Nasty said: ''I should still be working. My
employers should have listened to me but I was treated like a number, not a
human being. I sell the best pencils and polish the most apples of anyone around here,'' he was heard to yell while being forcibly restrained in a strait jacket, prior to his removal to Kasha's Home For Wayward Traders.
