Merrill Lynch, Michael Ching, WSJ>

In communications equipment, Merrill analyst Micheal Ching said he
expects revenue increases of 19%, on average, from the second quarter of
1998. He singled out Motorola Inc. (MOT) and Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM)
as most-likely candidates to exceed his earnings expectations.

Motorola will continue its steady improvement of the past several quarters,
with strength in personal communications, cellular and PCS phones, Ching
said. He's looking for earnings of 42 cents a share for the second quarter,
compared with earnings before charges of 1 cent in the second quarter of
1998.

Rapid growth in CDMA phone sales are propelling Qualcomm's results,
Ching said. He projects revenue of just over $1 billion and earnings of 65
cents a share for its fiscal third quarter, compared with revenue of $875
million and operating earnings of 33 cents a share for the quarter ended
June 28, 199

MMike, on July option calls
my best guess is that by Friday next, anticipation of blowout earnings should be peaking... I would be holding any July calls to expiration... what do you have in premium, a wee 2 pts? ... today must have been a tease

gots August calls meself... looking to kick some ass between now and then
