It was Andres Escobar of Colombia, and yes, he was shot to death after his return to Bogota.

As I said earlier, the violence off the field reaches in a few cases absurd extremes, and it is an absolute disgrace to the sport.

In addition to the above, the English and Dutch fans are to be treated with caution.... there is a term in England the press has called these savages: "Fanimals"

However, such violence is now closely guarded by local police forces and is now under control.
