1. I don't trust the data to be accurate. But I do believe that useful information may be derived by looking at the trend in that data. Hopefully, over time the sampling errors will cancel out.

2. DRAM prices won't make it to zero. But they will make it to about $2 a chip as that generation is replaced by the following. I haven't followed the market closely recently, but seeing the 64Mb chip at $4 and below indicates that the 256Mb chip won't be far behind.

And I expect it to have a very short life cycle given the Koreans will be sampling 1Gb chips by yearend.

In any case, I still think that both the short and the longer term are very positive for the equipment companies. I just don't know about the midterm. i.e. Will there be another dip before 300mm? ... or will we see one continuous upleg?
