>>20 million people are on the waiting list for an install<<

....if true, wow!

And, if San Fran has the audacity to side with AOL and vote for open access, I say we just walk away and don't serve up high-speed cable internet access in their town. Or, maybe just put them at the end of the list.

Next!

Franz,

I didn't expect a simple vote. Remember that we are dealing with Bay Area politics. Let's sail East across the bay where the school board voted to teach "ebonics" to better the collective understanding of cultural differences. Don't like that??? Then sail back across the bay to San Francisco where the school board voted to prohibit police officers from carrying their guns while on school property. Apparently they are doing their part to stem the tide of officers popping school children when they get out of line. This is their reaction to Columbine. Never mind asking themselves why armed police officers are needed on high school AND grade school campuses.

Let's step up one level to Mayor Willie Brown who when asked recently about the web site his executive secretary put up with nude photo's of herself, said "I've always had an appreciation for pretty women." How 'bout the SF Board? The SF Board of Supervisors consists of a pack of myopic, infighting, back-biting, sound-biting, micro-special interest supported attention magnets.

Does anyone on this thread REALLY believe that they will understand the issue? I didn't think so. They will do what will get them in front of a camera. They will pound fists, stand tall and go to their deaths protecting "freedom" and the rights of ALL PEOPLES regardless of their race, creed (strike that..can't have religious connotations...too risky, could lose votes), or what they had for breakfast. (Insert tax hike from 8.25% to 9.25% for city employee Disneyland stress reduction week) Then they will vote to stay in office. No regulation. They don't know enough to defend positions contrary to FCC recommendation and they know enough to know that. Each one will attempt to be the one who voted for "Open Access" so that they can say they were looking out for the citizens without having to look as foolish as Portland (narrowband enclave of the Pacific NorthWest, they still use looms to spin socks) but if it appears to be close they will retreat.
