Sure, the two sites are similar. Good design principles work. Good designers will make similar choices. The SI designers have made slightly better choices than the folks who did Stockhouse, but the principles are good for both: Emphasize the message by putting it in a white space. Don't clutter it up with vertical lines from a box around the message. Use strong verticals above and below the message to isolate it from all the junk that has little to do with it. One of the best things that's been done on this SI is give the message a good clear border on each side.
