JMarcus -- thanks for referring me to Conte's comments on the FDA response to Provir. Even if her account is accurate, why were stockholders not told that EVERYTHING was riding on fast-track approval by the FDA? That the whole shebang was going in the toilet if we didn't get immediate approval? Not a whisper of a hint. You know, this debacle reminds me of the wonderful Zero Mostel movie, "The Producers." Two Broadway scammers sell more shares in a show than actually exist. They then must make sure the show is a flop so they don't have to worry about paying off the investors. They produce a ridiculous show called "Spring Time for Hitler," a musical comedy that is supposed to be so grotesquely awful that its failure is guaranteed. Unfortunately, thanks to the perversity of New York audiences, the show was a hit and the producers faced financial ruin and likely prosecution. The success part of the story is where the analogy to SHMN breaks down, obviously. But there is some comparison in the lightening speed with which Conte moved to pull the plug after the FDA setback and declare the Shaman show a failure. That way she could put all the blame on the bad old FDA and avoid the accountability that should have been squarely on her shoulders.
