There are millions of different reasons to use computers- if a solution to a company's problems already exists in a fully developed very full featured Windows form, then it makes sense to go with CTXS to reduce the overall cost. Windows will be with us for a long time, and as long as MSFT OS servers are in use, CTXS will have it's uses.If the problem can be solved better and/or cheaper with Java/HTML then companies will go that way. It's quite possible that the systems will exist side by side even inside one company. Java just isn't up to some complex programs that already exist in Windows form , and who would spend billions trying to reinvent the wheel anytime in the immediate future? Getting back to a simpler way of doing things sounds nice in theory, but in the real world there is an ever increasing tendency toward complexity in almost everything. People appear to like bells and whistles in everything from their home to their computers to their car. Do we really need that leather upholstery and that little motor to lower our radio antennae, much less fancy aluminum wheels ? There are probably cases where these 2 systems compete in a viable way, but much of the time it may be an apples oranges thing. As an investor I prefer CTXS because their system is here now. I'll look closer at ORCL, despite my dislike of LE.
