China's Jan-June Crude Oil Production Falls to 53.4 Mln Tons, Paper Says

Beijing, July 7 (Bloomberg) -- China's crude oil production
in the first six months of the year totaled 53.4 million tons,
the China Chemical Industry News reported, quoting the State
Petroleum and Chemical Industry Bureau. This constitutes 50.06
percent of the target for the whole year. In the same period, the
total profits of the petroleum and chemical industries is
expected to have reached 8 billion yuan ($970 million), the paper
said without giving further details.

China's oil production in the first six months of 1998
totaled 79.3 million tons, according to State Statistics Bureau.
