I was pleased to see the following sentence in the PR: As access to wider bandwidth increases, additional features including IP telephony and videoconferencing will be instantly fully functional.... I remember e-mailing Pat Rost last year when the kiosk strategy was first announced and asking if IP telephony was being considered. He told me at that time that JNNE's focus was elsewhere. I was somewhat disappointed simply because i am so high on the idea of IP telephony; however, i've never seen any reason to second guess Joe Naughton, and i certainly didn't then. As we've seen the last few months, he has the vision and courage that has allowed him to change JNNE's focus. I think yesterday's PR, especially the above sentence, is just another indication that Mr. Naughton's mind is churning with ideas on how to exploit the potential of JNNE's internet focus.
