bald eagle, several strategies for dealing with y2k 'meltdown' were given on here a couple weeks back. if you know how to do the si search thing, type in the poster name puna pickle at the bottom of this page in the search box and look for the portion of this thread where she popped up on here in particular and basically demanded 30-40% annual return strategies post y2k because she was spoiled on her go2net heady ride because she doesn't want to get out before the last great summer rally of 99 (in her vaunted opinion of course.)

many professional people, myself included attempted to posit things for her to consider, with equities, bonds and options strategies. she pissed on all of them because she has gotten hooked on living high and on the adrenalin edge. flatsville in particular summed things rather nicely as i recall.

in response to your hurled epithet: fighting like little kids, mostly we just ignore ignorant venom by opportunists such as yourself.

those of us who have taken y2k seriously and not just in our 'portfolio allocations' don't really have much time for "making nice" to people like you who pop in here looking for 'stock market timing' advice. you could have done SOME thorough reading of a thread prior to your auspicious arrival.

but your greed is a common malady in these y2k pre-times. and it gets old reading it again and again and again.

when or if you chose to face your greed monster and tame it or get consumed by it is pretty much out of this thread's venue.

but stick around. maybe others don't mind repeating their fine advice to puna pickle, but i sure as hell do.

timers are all alike. you want to count how many angels dance on the head of a pin, but are too late to face the real EOTWAWKI coming straight at you like a freight train.

y2k is the pricking of the greatest bubble since fleer bubble gum. you sh should be 7/8ths done with your pre y2k to do list, like whether or not you have developed a backup/reliable source of drinking water when a month's supply of chlorine gets dumped en masse like it has in a y2k tests by municipalities that this thread has been tracking and have been brave enough to talk about it candidly.

so, dance with your angels, count your paper profits while alan greenspan tries to engineer the greatest levitation act since the great houdini, and lay off the unmerited commentary. how dare you judge all of us by my irritation at your type, since you just decided to grace us with your fabulous presence yesterday.

si is full of 'advice' to the y2k timers. this is one of the few threads which, thanks to c.k. houston primarily, and a faulous IT unix surfer sidekick, john mansfield, is full of reality, hidden press release goodies, global warnings from governmental utterances both here and abroad, etc., that don't get 'ink' anywhere else on si.

AND it contains multitudinous contributors with up to the minute thoughtful responses of many fine professional people who have spent untold hours sifting shit to find and share the kernels of truth that are disseminated here.

if you can't handle the solid dose of other people's reality, and MY REALITY IS: i'm short of patience with the last minute opportunitist like yourself showing up on here, and your appearance goes directly to the heart of this thread's heading: Y2K Impact on Stock Market and Society, then move on to the other 5,000 plus threads that WILL help you time Y2K out the kazoo and become a bazillion-aire in the next 177 days.

have a lovely life.

>>Do you have any strategy for avoiding a Y2K stock market meltdown? <<

Actually, I am in a holding position.

I see Y too Kay as a possible "blip" on a chart.

Not taking any cash out either.
