Sonata's net up 111%,Rolta's earnings up 43%,BFL mulls dedicated center.

Sonata net shoots up 111% in Q1FY2000

The Bangalore based Sonata Software Ltd has announced a 35%yoy and 111%yoy growth in revenues and net profits during Q1FY2000. Net profits increased to Rs42.8mn in Q1FY2000, compared to Rs20.3mn last year, revenues were Rs174.8mn in Q1FY2000 compared to Rs129.1mn in Q1FY99. This translates to an EPS of Rs17.4 on an annualized basis.

Rolta profits jump 43%

Net profit of Rolta India jumped 43.39% for second quarter ended June 1999 to Rs150.7mn compared to Rs105.7mn in the second quarter in the previous year. Total income for the quarter increased 27.44% from Rs324.3mn last year to Rs413.3mn this year. Rolta is planning to set up a software center in Dubai which will cater to the middle-east market.

BFL plans another dedicated center

BFL Software is planning to start a dedicated center to develop Java-based solution for a Dutch Bank. BFL has not revealed the name of the client. BFL already has 5 such dedicated centers for clients like Compaq, Federal Express and Lanier Worldwide. The company is expecting the new venture to generate revenues to the tune of US$1mn in the first year of operations.

BFL recently bagged a US$1mn order to develop networking software for the Australian subsidiary of Japanese electronic giant NEC.

The company is likely to announce its Q1 results tomorrow (Thursday). It is estimated that the company will report a net profit of Rs70mn upon sales of Rs300mn.
