We could use a few analysts like Andrew Smithers here in the U.S.

U.S. analysts should wear frilly skirts and wave pompoms when they give their analysis. That way we could know what they really are.

Mike, Gee, didn't Mike Milken go to prison for doing a lot less than these shenanigans? <g> I don't know if US banks are playing this game. I think they would like the idea of faking profits, but I don't think they could trust all of their traders not to blow the whistle. In Japan, the culture is different and ratting out your firm is a major taboo.
