ANYONE TAKE MY ADVISE AND BOUGHT JTWO????? LOOK AT IT NOW! People realize how HUGE this one will be! Yesterdays Times article sure helped! This news back in June says it all: National Lampoon Plans Fall Launch of 'nationallampoon.com, The Humor Network' LOS ANGELES, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- National Lampoon, the Los Angeles based subsidiary of J2 Communications (Nasdaq: JTWO), today announced that it will launch a website, "nationallampoon.com, The Humor Network" in early fall, 1999 with massive online and offline consumer promotions. Describing the rationale behind nationallampoon.com, J2 President and CEO James P. Jimirro stated, "Our research tells us that we can develop a website which will be extremely profitable because of its appeal to advertisers pursuing our upscale, educated, young male demographic. Sales of National Lampoon merchandise will also be an extraordinary source of revenue." Mr. Jimirro went on to say, "nationallampoon.com will be unique. That's why we're calling it a 'network' instead of a 'website.' We are creating it as an entertainment product with an enormous variety of targeted programming designed to create a large, loyal audience." Besides presenting the edgy comedy and archival treasure trove that made National Lampoon a household name, the website will serve as a platform for developing new characters, features and stories for television and movies. Editor-In-Chief Scott Rubin heads the team creating the site. He brings to National Lampoon a broad background in comedy writing at the highest levels. His material has appeared on "The Tonight Show," "Late Night With David Letterman," "The Howie Mandell Show," and many other programs. In addition, Mr. Rubin wrote extensively for Gary Shandling, working with him to develop new standup routines. Other credits include Comedy Consultant on Columbia Pictures, feature "Punchline," starring Tom Hanks. He also wrote and co-produced on CBS's "Midnight Hour" comedy/variety show. National Lampoon has contracted with leading website developer Magnet Interactive, creator of the successful Kellogg and Crayola sites, to construct the site. A Company spokesperson revealed that announcements concerning consumer and financial public relations agencies, an online advertising agency and an e-commerce fulfillment house are forthcoming. In closing, Mr. Jimirro said, "nationallampoon.com will be very attractive to advertisers because it's going to be an extraordinarily 'sticky' site. Once our aggressive marketing gets visitors there, we'll employ a wide range of interactive programming not only to keep them glued to our site, but to keep them coming back. That's precisely what advertisers -- whatever the medium -- demand."
