Well, the wars against the Indians weren't based on their lack of moral fibre, or their belligerance toward other tribes. They had what others wanted--it's as simple as that. No need to cast blame, though, as everyone involved in that era is long dead. Most full blood Indians (outside of those fortunate casino owners) have not been able to integrate into American society. I wonder what we'd do if one of the tribes declared its independence a la Kosovo. Bomb the heck out of them probably.

Dan, you are considering the history of the Native Americans as written by white men. Just a little biased, don't you think? I have stated my knowledge and beliefs of NA associations with their neighbors,at length, in other posts on other threads so, will not launch into that at this point but, you need to read a history from the west looking east instead of the east looking west. There is as great deal of difference. A good beginning would be " Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" by Dee Brown.
