ANC represents a small part of my portfolio, so I haven't really followed it that closely. I bought in then, as others have more recently, because of a belief that data mining would one day be widely used.

I believe some of the earlier licensing deals that ANC made were not significant in terms of revenue, but helped add some credibility. However, the expected revenue growth simply did not materialize. I remain hopeful because I think the company is more solid and in a better position than when I originally invested. However, I think they will have to demonstrate solid revenue growth or a major licensing deal with quantifiable royalties before the market pays any attention. In the meantime, there may be the odd momentum play on the stock like we saw a few months ago.

There are many other companies better financed than ANC who are players in this sector. I think ANC has good product right now, but how long they can stay ahead I don't know. Once the data mining market becomes larger, it's not inconceivable to think that Microsoft might acquire similar "user-friendly" data mining technology and bundle it into a suite offering.
