tech2000, None of 5 limit orders under 90 that I
put in last evening got filled. The stock opened
at my highest limit but my order didn't get filled.
Missed the train.

DOW, NASDAQ, S&P are all down but MSFT is up 1.5
Who could be buying? Well, this could be the first
sign of institutional participation on the buy side.
Can't predict short term prices however. We could
hit at 90 or 110 prior to earnings. But I am quite
confident that the stock is selling at 45 PE for
this fiscal year and that is historically cheap.

I think when a pattern becomes as well known and as widely reported as this one, the pattern disappears. Everyone has been expecting YHOO and the internets to run up to their earnings and then sell off after announcing large upside surprises. Why not - it happened the last 3 quarters.

So this quarter everyone tries to get out a day or two early to game this and the pattern is disrupted. No huge upside before and no huge selloff after. Remember Jan and April when YHOO was moving up 20%+ daily in the days before earnings. I seem to remember a 70 point day in Jan.

Now, if YHOO announces strong earnings (beats the whisper of .11 with no negative guidance), then all of tech may be very strong tomorrow. Lead, of course, by the internets but you can count on MSFT to rally well into a strong market.

Wow, where is all the volume gone in the market? Trading on some of the slower stocks here is like pulling teeth. What the hell is the market waiting for? Don't they know we are supposed to have a rally here<g>? Is everyone asleep on the board too? C'mon folks, quit sitting on your hands, and lets have some action<g>!

MSFT looks very solid - true, the gain has been on low volume, but so has the pullback. I expect it to race nicely toward earnings. Looks to me like a time to accumulate on weakness (such as yesterday!), and sit tight!

Good luck!
