Novell --- In the Top Ten of companies to work for

So how do you make a 16 year old networking software company an exciting and desirable place to work....

Well for one thing you re-price the options for the employees at about $8 a share and repurchase enough shares in the open market to reward the employees smart enough to invest in their company with payroll deductions. I believe most of the shares repurchased went to the various stock plans. (Someone care to correct me.)

Although we haven't heard anything from Novell employees lately here, I have to believe that those smart enough not to have sold their stock when their options vested haven't regretted it.

Incidentally for Novell employees, holding NOVL stock and buying puts to protect against the downside was the strategy. If you sold to put your children through college (and not to buy a 4x4) you get a gold star as well. We need more good parents.
